Strange Americans formed in 2010 and began writing music deeply rooted in Americana. Working with Grammy Award-winning engineer John Macy, Strange Americans released A Royal Battle (2012) to critical acclaim, incorporating classic guitar sounds, energetic rhythms, and lush vocal harmonies. Tim Gerak at Mammoth Cave took controls for their 2014 release, That Kind of Luster. As Marquee Magazine describes, "Strange Americans are rescuing something from the rust pile — straight-forward, no frills rock and roll, and a matching aesthetic that is heavy on songwriting and storytelling, but presented with reverb-drenched punch and passion."
