Snails and Oysters
Snails and Oysters is a specific point in time, the present, on a journey towards mastery of the guitar. It explores the intersections of ambiance, noise, free improvisation, and American Primitive music. It combines both the increasingly refined musical tastes and the steadily declining technical abilities of its author, Joseph Mills. Two decades spent learning to play the guitar like others was time well-spent, though the next two shall be spent learning to play like no others. Obvious and essential influences have been, and will continue to be John Fahey, Nels Cline, Glenn Branca, Brian Eno, Sandy Bull, Mick Ronson, William Tyler, Robert Quine, Marnie Stern, Bob Stinson, Derek Bailey, and Colin Stetson, among many others.
