Planina
Planina is a group of singers and instrumentalists from the Denver-Boulder, Colorado area. Though mostly not of Eastern European heritage, we share a fascination with the varied musical styles and vocal techniques of the Balkans, Russia and other parts of Eastern Europe.
Founded in 1988 as Planina Balkan Women’s Choir (“Planina” means “mountain” in the southern Slavic languages), we became a mixed chorus in 1999. Besides singing for audiences large and small in Colorado and some neighboring states, we have produced an audiotape (out of print), three CDs, and a cookbook. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
