Odyle was formed by a musician and an actress. While spending time in the library at the University of Philosophical Research in Los Feliz, CA they encountered the word Odyle in an old esoteric book. The word was coined in the 1840's by Karl Von Reichenbach a notable chemist, geologist, metallurgist, naturalist, industrialist and philosopher. His investigations led him to propose a new imponderable force allied to magnetism, which he thought was an emanation from most substances, a kind of "life principle" which permeates and connects all living things. To this vitalist manifestation he gave the name Odic force or "Odyle" The word haunted them, and after writing a song about a circus psychic who taps in to this force, they adopted it as their band name. Odyle's music is moody, dark and dreamy. Now based in Denver, the pair continue to write and perform together, and have most recently collaborated on sound design for a production of Grand Guignol Theater with Pandemic Collective, 2017 recipient of Meow Wolf's grant for independent theater.
