Moon Magnet is the latest incarnation of a house with a storied past of creativity and innovation. Two years ago Derrick Bozich (DU Grad) moved into a house in Denver’s Baker District where three UCD students lived: Reed Fuchs, Clay Cornelius, & Karl Rivers. The house was called Snozberry Studios at the time because Matt Tanner previously ran a studio in the basement before moving to Portland. In school Reed learned that it's not the studio or gear, but the producer who brings the best qualities out of an artist. Regardless of gear limitations at the time, he started Moon Magnet Studios in the basement and graduated from the Rocky Mountain Micro Finance Institute's Business Boot camp. Current UCD student, Anna Smith, lived at Moon Magnet that summer and during her stay everyone's dreams of starting a label & artist collective became a reality. They began using the label as a way to release their friend’s records: Ancient Elk, Wild High, déCollage, and many more. Last October, Derrick & Reed started meeting up with Neil Lyons every week and envisioned a plan for Moon Magnet Publishing. They launched it last May & have sealed two placements. Moon Magnet is an artist collective with a lot of branches; it's an umbrella with a multiverse of people under it. Inside Moon Magnet you can sing & dance endlessly, or learn how to rap & beat box from Karl Rivers, or dream of being an actor or producer and then shoot your first short film. Moon Magnet is a place where artists can be themselves and express freely. It's a house with about eight bands practicing in it between recording sessions throughout the week. Moon Magnet’s spirit of endless possibilities can be experienced at the Meadowlark shows they throw every 2nd & 4th Wednesday or their Circuit Bending Nights every 3rd Wednesday. Moon Magnet strives to inspire musician’s to try new things and promotes a “you can do anything with practice; barriers are mostly mental” DIY ethos.
