DJ Cavem Moetavation
2014 Music Educator Award Grammy nominee and international recording artist, DJ Cavem is an O.G. (organic gardener) educator, emcee, deejay, BBoy, award-winning activist, midwife, vegan chef and founder of Going Green Living Bling. He has dedicated his work to transforming the minds and health of children and his community using hip hop as a platform of communication.
Recently featured in Spirituality and Health Magazine, Mother Nature Network, Huffington Post, Food Star HipHop, Grist, Tuja Wellness, The Scavenger, The Kitchen Mix, Tree Hugger Magazine, Oprah Magazine, Stanford Medical Scope, and Yes! Magazine for his Ted Talk , and album,The Produce Section, which is an award winning curriculum introducing the subjects of Organic Gardening and Food Justice. His curriculum has been utilized in inner-city schools, as well as Universities such as Georgetown, where he recently lectured. His recent project "Brown Rice and Broccoli" with his summer camp students in collaboration with Boys and Girls Club of Metro Denver was also recognized by Oprah. The music video was a healthy response to the song "Hot Cheetos and Takis", released earlier in 2013 by Y.N. Rich Kids. His recent appearances include the International Association of Culinary Professionals Conference w/ Bryant Terry, Sam Kass, and Rick Balis (Chicago), SASFS Conference (Denver, CO), Raw Living Expo (Thousand Oaks, CA), Jubilee Yoga Festival, Dreamforce 2014, Hollywood film Festival 2014, Tedx Mile High and more.
Check out his video wheatgrass and his new single Hybrid Lex (a song dedicated to power plants and factories polluting the air). This single will be on his upcoming album Eco-Twerk (publishing through SESAC), which is a continuation of his curriculum The Produce Section, and introduces the subjects of mineral extraction of the Earth and promotes holistic mind body entrepreneurialism.
He has a short documentary called "From Gangs to Gardens" directed by JLove Calderon in which the film was officially selected and premiered at the Hollywood Film Festival 2014. The film had sold out seats, and was attended by celebrity guests Rainbeau Mars, Ron Finley, Michael Karlin, and Harry Belafonte's daughter with a standing ovation.
